Our Story
Founded on November 14, 2010, AFEPA became AFEPAME in June 2011 in order to include electronic money institutions, newly created under European regulation (PSD2). The French Association of Payment and Electronic Money Institutions aims to bring together payment and electronic money companies within an official body, as a member of AFECEI (the French Association of Credit Institutions, Financing Companies and Investment Firms, recognized by the law of July 4, 1996).
Its objective is to represent the interests of the industry. It therefore serves as a key point of contact for public authorities and stakeholders in the financial sector. Through Afépame, payment and electronic money institutions are recognized within the French and European payments ecosystem.
Payment Institutions, Electronic Money Institutions, and, since the transposition of PSD2, Account Aggregators and Payment Initiators are engaged on issues of regulation, sovereignty, resilience, financial security, and more broadly on supporting innovation and building the payments ecosystem.

Every two years, the General Assembly renews its Governing Board of Directors, which elects the President, the Secretary General, and the Treasurer of the association
